Myrtle — The MOVE Wish Tree was developed as part of the 2011 celebration of MOVE’s five years of achievement. Named “Myrtle” for the Crepe Myrtle tree displayed at the celebration, the tree has become a repository for MOVE supporters to reflect on and express wishes for MOVE and culture change.
Wish tags are available for anyone to record their wishes for MOVE or their reflections about culture change.
Myrtle is now represented by a small ornamental tree and has been on display at MOVE educational events and showcased at senior communities throughout Oregon.
As Myrtle travels across the region, this is an opportunity to reflect on the current state of elderhood and eldercare and our dreams for what is possible as we go forward.
Nursing home care in particular has come a long way in recent years with a transition away from institutional practices and systems and toward person specific plans adapted to individual needs and desires.
The changes we have seen would not have been possible without people first dreaming big and second believing that change was possible!
Now is the perfect opportunity to dream. Express your wishes on one of the blue ornamental tags and hang it on Myrtle. No dream is too big or too small for her!
